Roombre Channel Manager: Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia in One Calendar

Roombre Channel Manager: Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia in One Calendar

If you run a small property, you probably have three browser tabs open right now: the Booking.com extranet, the Airbnb host dashboard and Expedia Partner Central. Maybe a spreadsheet too, to keep the three honest with each other.

I have been building for the web since 2001, and with Roombre we build hotel software for independent properties. The request we hear most is not about fancy dashboards. It is: “Can I please stop updating the same calendar three times?” Soon you can. Roombre’s channel manager launches within a month.

What a channel manager actually does

A channel manager connects your property management system to the online travel agencies (OTAs) where you sell rooms. You change availability or rates once, and the change goes out to every connected channel.

Think of it as an air traffic controller for your rooms. You say “Room 3 is taken from the 12th to the 15th”, and every platform hears it at once, including at 11:40 pm when you would rather be asleep.

Why two-way sync is the whole point

Some tools mostly push data out to the channels. That is half the job. The other half is the booking that comes in from a channel and needs to reduce availability everywhere else, immediately.

Roombre’s channel manager syncs in both directions, covering the three things that matter:

  • Availability: how many rooms of each type are free on each date;
  • Rates: change a price in Roombre and it flows to the channels;
  • Reservations: a booking from Booking.com, Airbnb or Expedia lands in Roombre, and availability on the other channels is updated.

No more double bookings

Double bookings are rarely bad luck. They happen when two platforms show the same free room because one has not heard that the other already sold it. The faster a booking reaches your shared inventory, the smaller that window gets. That is why two-way sync is the reason to have a channel manager, not an optional extra.

One place to change your prices

Raising rates for a bank holiday weekend should take one minute, not one evening. With a channel manager you set the price once. You save time, and you remove the risk of one channel quietly selling at last month’s rate.

How it fits into Roombre

Roombre is a property management system (PMS) with a built-in booking engine: you manage rooms, guests and reservations, and guests can book directly with you from your own booking page. The channel manager is the third piece.

  1. The PMS is your calendar and the single source of truth for availability.
  2. The booking engine brings in direct bookings with no commission to a middleman.
  3. The channel manager sends the same availability and rates to Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia, and pulls their reservations back in.

Every booking, wherever it came from, ends up in one calendar. No separate “Airbnb sheet”, no copying details by hand.

Pricing

The channel manager will cost €10 per month on top of your current plan. No tiers by number of channels, no setup puzzle. If you only sell on one platform, you may not need it yet. If you sell on two or three, €10 is less than the cost of a single walked guest and the review that follows.

Who it is for

We designed it for properties where the owner is also the front desk, the bookkeeper and the person who fixes the Wi-Fi:

  • Guesthouses and B&Bs selling on Booking.com and Airbnb at the same time;
  • Small hotels without a dedicated revenue manager;
  • Boutique hotels that want Expedia’s reach without another daily chore.

Four rooms and one channel? A paper diary may still work. Twelve rooms and three channels? The paper diary is the risk.

What to prepare before launch

A channel manager syncs data. If your data is messy, it will sync the mess faster. Here is what I would do now:

  1. Tidy up your room types. “Double with view” on Booking.com and “Double Sea View” on Airbnb should map to one room type in Roombre.
  2. Decide on a single source of truth. From day one, rates and availability are changed in Roombre, not directly in the extranets.
  3. Check future reservations. Make sure every confirmed booking is already in your calendar, so you start from a clean inventory.
  4. Write down your pricing logic. If one channel carries a different rate, know why before you automate it.

Thirty minutes of preparation saves a week of confusion.

When

Launch is within a month, starting with the three major channels: Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia. I want to be precise here: I am not promising other channels or features we have not shipped. When it goes live I will publish a step-by-step setup guide.

In the meantime you can explore Roombre at roombre.com/en. There is a free plan, so you can set up your rooms and rates now and switch the channel manager on the day it is released.

Why we did not ship a “simple integration”

At Dynomica we also do custom software development and business process automation. One lesson repeats itself: a one-way integration gives you the feeling of control. The data looks in sync right up until it is not. So with Roombre we started with two-way sync instead of leaving it for “version two”.

A good channel manager is one you stop thinking about.

Want to be first in line?

If you run a guesthouse, B&B or small hotel and want to be among the first properties connected, get in touch. I will tell you honestly whether you need a channel manager now or can wait.

Frequently asked questions

What is a channel manager?

Software that connects your property management system to OTAs like Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia, so availability and rates are changed in one place and updated everywhere.

Which channels will Roombre's channel manager support?

At launch: Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia, with two-way sync of availability, rates and reservations.

How much does it cost?

€10 per month on top of your current Roombre plan.

When does it launch?

Within a month. You can set up rooms and rates in Roombre now, including on the free plan, and switch it on at launch.

Why does two-way sync matter?

A booking from one channel must immediately reduce availability on the others. That closes the window in which double bookings happen.
